Liverpool’s Royal Liver building restoration works underway
CBRE’s Liverpool Building Consultancy team has been instructed on behalf of the owners, Royal London, to carry out an external repair and restoration programme of works on the Grade I listed Royal Liver Building in Liverpool.
The external repair and restoration will include the four main domes, eight smaller domes, the refurbishment and overhauling of the two spiral staircases and replacement of the timber speaker housing in the west tower.
CBRE has appointed North West based Quadriga Contracts Ltd, a specialist external repair company to carry out the works.
Quadriga have appointed a well-established local scaffolding firm who have recently been scaffolding the Blackpool Tower as part of an extensive repair scheme.
The works have started and will be focused on restoration to the north west cupola.
The works will re-commence in the New Year, with the whole programme scheduled for completion in late spring/early summer 2015.
Building surveyor at CBRE’s Liverpool office Peter Rigby, commented, “This is an exciting and rare opportunity to restore and enhance one of the North West’s most iconic buildings which occupies a prominent position on the waterfront in Liverpool.
“The sensitive restoration works will ensure that this important landmark stands the test of time and we are looking forward to seeing the work progressing over the forthcoming weeks.”
