Leading Midlands accountants announces its largest expansion

One of the Midlands’ leading independent accountancy firms has announced its largest ever expansion.

Baldwins Accountants has taken over Turner Peachey, which has five offices in Bridgnorth, Oswestry, Shifnal, Shrewsbury and Welshpool into its expanding group.

The move means Baldwins Accountants will now have 13 offices and employ around 300 staff.

Turner Peachey’s offices will be re-named Baldwin Turner Peachey in West Castle Street, Bridgnorth; Salop Road, Oswestry; Park Street, Shifnal; London Road, Shrewsbury; and High Street, Welshpool.

John Baldwin, who started Baldwins Accountants in 1971 with his father, said this was an ideal fit because the two businesses had a similar ethos.

“This is our biggest expansion to increase our offices from eight to 13 and with the positive economic climate we are experiencing in the region, we are confident about moving forward with our continued growth strategy,” he said.

“We have a key presence in many towns and cities in the Midlands but we wanted to expand into Shropshire and Mid-Wales. We had been exploring the possibilities for some time but wanted to ensure any expansion was a perfect fit in terms of the size of the business and its ethos.

“Turner Peachey has steadily grown, just like Baldwins, and they have excellent connections in the five areas they serve which we are keen to build on.

“Both firms have clients in similar sectors. We will be able to offer clients all the services that they currently have plus also provide additional added value services including corporate finance, research and development and tax advice.

“This will enable us to build on the success of both businesses and Baldwin Turner Peachey will continue to deliver excellent local services.”

Elwyn Turner, director of Baldwin Turner Peachey based in Shrewsbury, said this was an exciting development for the business.

“Both businesses have similar principles because we are committed to delivering a personal service at great value for money and we remain focused on serving our local business communities in Bridgnorth, Oswestry, Shifnal, Shrewsbury and Welshpool,” he said.

“Our relationships with our clients will be strengthened by this acquisition because we are able to expand the range of services we can provide.

“Baldwins has a well-established business model which has organically grown over the years and we are looking forward to working with their team of specialists in various accountancy fields to help the businesses of our clients to grow.”

Baldwins, which is led by father and son John and David Baldwin, has existing offices in Tamworth, Walsall, Stourbridge, Wolverhampton, Nottingham, Ashby de la Zouch, Coventry and Leamington.
