National Award for Lytham Care Home
Lytham-based Lakeview Rest Homes has received national recognition for its state-of-the-art care home, The Moorings, at the UK Over 50s Housing Awards, scooping ‘The Most Outstanding Care Home Redevelopment in the UK’ accolade.
Organised by UK Over 50s Housing Weekly News and in their fifth year, the awards celebrate and honour excellence in the care sector.
The award was presented at a glittering ceremony held recently at London’s Westbury Hotel in Mayfair in recognition of Lakeview’s £5m investment in the purpose-built facility.
The Moorings is being developed in two phases with an ambition to offer 5-star hotel-style accommodation and when complete will comprise more than 70 en-suite rooms.
With panoramic views of the Irish Sea, phase one of The Moorings, which opened its doors to residents in 2013, provides a hair and beauty salon, cinema, ‘Geraldo’s piano lounge, library and bistro.
Phase two, scheduled for completion in spring 2015, will add a roof garden, hydrotherapy room, games room, indoor bowling/putting green and dedicated games room to the impressive facilities.
Receiving the award Nick Wood, director at Lakeview Rest Homes, said: “I am absolutely over the moon to have received this award.
“As a family-run business with almost 30 years’ experience in operating rest homes, we understand what a difficult decision it can be to make the move into a care home, which is why we have worked hard to create facilities that are unrivalled anywhere in Lancashire, if not the North West.
“At The Moorings we wanted to provide residents with outstanding facilities alongside the home comforts that make staying here a stimulating and caring experience. To receive national recognition for our efforts is fantastic.”
