One in the Back of the Net for Hult Undergraduate Students

Recently over 80 Hult undergraduate students had an audience with Patrick Jubb, the Director of Marketing for Premier League football club, Crystal Palace, where he is helping transform the Club to better engage its existing and future fans.

René Carayol, MBE, CEO of the Inspired Leaders Network used his broadcasting skills to probe Patrick about his rise to success – this event is part of a joint series of events across both London campuses at Hult International Business School.

Patrick is one of Marketing Magazines “Power 100” – the UK’s top 100 most influential Marketers in 2013.

He enlightened students about his experiences of repositioning brands, the transformation in the consumer / brand relationship - drawing on his experiences in agency and at Land Rover and Vodafone. One of his key messages to students was to transform from the inside out – gaining buy in from your people before bringing a new brand thought to life in the outside world.

Patrick said:

“It has been a great pleasure to be able to speak to Hult students and I’ve really enjoyed the variety and depth of questions posed.

My main advice would be to take roles that will challenge and stretch your boundaries, and within a role, look for projects or initiatives outside your direct function that will broaden your experiences and help you grow as a marketeer.“

Dr Melissa Willby, Dean Undergraduate Programs said:

“Tonight has been a fantastic opportunity for our students to hear from a truly inspiring speaker, with a wealth of experience and knowledge across global brands. I thought his advice was solid, giving students something to aim for and showing them that nothing is impossible with a lot of hard work.

We are delighted to be working with the Inspired Leaders Network on these events, there was a real buzz on campus and the feedback from students was excellent“.

Finally, Leo Draxl, fourth year BBA student from Austria summed up the event from the student perspective:

“It’s always great to hear from someone who had made a success out of their career, how they got there and the path they took. When you see where they started from, where us students are sitting right now it really gives you faith that we all at Hult have a platform for a great career”.
