Surge of healthcare, building and engineering inquiries results in above-expected start for ISA Group
A surge in enquiries from medical, engineering and building professionals looking to start a new life in Australia has helped a new UK emigration agency surpass its initial six-month targets.
Emigration agency ISA Group, which opened its UK office near Heathrow Airport in April, has received a larger than anticipated number of inquiries over the last six months from skilled workers looking to move to Australia.
Since then, almost half of inquiries received have been from British nationals with expertise in healthcare, engineering and building skills looking to relocate to Australia.
Leanne Short, ISA Group’s UK recruitment and migration manager, said: “We’ve had an excellent first six months in the UK, with 120 registrations alone from the recent Down Under Live exhibition in Birmingham.
“Of those registrations, just short of 50 per cent were from clinicians or nurses, people with a background in engineering, and tradesmen such as plumbers, carpenters and people with skills in the construction industry.
“There’s a significant skills deficit across a number of sectors in Australia, including those three areas.
“The most recent statistics from the Australian Government found that one in four vacancies in the health sector are unfilled, while registered nurses are the fourth highest occupation in Australia filled by migrants.
“Statistics show there is also similar demand for building professionals and for positions across a broad range of engineering disciplines.
“We’re also finding that there’s still an appetite for British workers to apply their skills to positions available in Australia, even as the economy picks up on these shores.”
Leanne, who has moved back to Britain to run ISA Group’s UK office, has first hand experience of the emigration process, having moved to Australia in September 2012 to take up a position with a global recruitment agency. Having herself gone through the emigration process, she is now looking to use her expertise to help others make the move to Australia
The UK is the third largest source of migrants to Australia, with more than 23,000 people making the move for the 2013-14 period.
The Australian government is actively seeking skilled workers across a broad range of sectors, including hospitality, agriculture and mining, to fill a skills gap in the country’s workforce.
Established in 2001, ISA Group is one of Australia’s leading immigration and overseas recruitment specialists, having helped thousands of people secure a visa and find work with Australian employers over the last 13 years.
The agency offers the insight, resources and support needed to help navigate the complex skills assessment process required to secure an Australian visa. The company also has expertise in a wide range of visa types including partner, student, working holiday and business visas, global and local recruitment, and HR consultancy services for employers. .
