Yorkshire Bank backs a diamond in the rough as new jewellery store opens

Yorkshire Bank has supported the growth of an East Midlands jeweller as it opens a brand new store in Stamford.

Denhams, which has been making jewellery for more than 60 years, has expanded its offering with an additional premises after securing a substantial funding package from the Bank.

The new store on St. Mary’s street, home to Stamford’s independent and boutique retailers, adds to their portfolio which also includes a branch in Leicester and more recently, Market Harborough.

The support package from Yorkshire Bank has been used to help renovate the interiors of the premises to match the high standards expected of a luxury jeweller.

Sarah Stamp who opened the new store said: “The purchase of the Stamford store has been a great addition to our portfolio, and since we opened our doors earlier this month, we’ve served lots of customers from the local community.

“There’s clearly a demand for our jewellery as we’re experiencing particularly strong sales across our other two branches.

“Thanks to Yorkshire Bank, we’ve been able to renovate the Stamford store to match the high quality of the jewellery we sell. We’ve also been able to take on three new members of staff to help manage the shop and we’ll be looking to expand further in the coming years.”

The deal was delivered by Angela Stone, relationship manager at Yorkshire Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre in Leicester.

It comes as the Bank announced a series of lending initiatives for new and existing customers designed to support the growth of small and medium sized businesses in the region, including the expansion and purchase of new premises.

Carl Dickinson, head of Yorkshire Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre in the East Midlands, said: “Denhams has enjoyed a positive relationship with Yorkshire Bank for more than 15 years.

“The business is a shining example of how an ambitious company, which provides a great service to the local community, can adapt to market demands in order to grow.

“As the business community continues to display more confidence in the current economic climate, Yorkshire Bank will continue to focus on investing in SMEs such as Denhams.”
