Aldi plans distribution centre on Isle of Sheppey creating 400 jobs
Supermarket chain Aldi has unveiled plans to build a large distribution centre on the Isle of Sheppey, off the coast of Kent
According the Kent Oneline, the budget chain is interested in a plot near Neats Court, Queenborough, for a 500,000 sq ft distribution centre creating 400 jobs
Just a week ago, the German firm revealed its interest in a dozen sites in Kent.
This project would be part of a £600 million investment lead by the firm to create 35,000 jobs and build 1,000 stores across the UK by 2022.
Swale’s regeneration director Pete Raine said: “We are expecting a planning application shortly. We hope to encourage them to use local labour as much as we can.
“I’m very happy to say that as a council, subject to planning, we obviously think it will be great news for the Island and it will be good locally for employment.”
