Help To Buy helps York families on the property ladder amid housing crisis
With York’s housing crisis now reaching alarming levels, David Wilson Homes and Joseph Rowntree Trust’s Derwenthorpe development has reported an upsurge in local families purchasing via Help To Buy.
The recent statistics, released by the local house builder, have highlighted a positive upsurge in York residents purchasing at the development, with an impressive 79% of buyers living in and around the city. The data, which has been accumulated over the past six months, also sheds light on the success of Help To Buy, with 43% of the homes purchased via the scheme – over 60% of which were first time buyers.
Clare Reaney, Sales Manager for David Wilson Homes, commented: “We have been overwhelmed by the interest in our award winning Derwenthorpe development in York. The fact that so many people have moved house from within York, highlights the passion that people have for the city and the real appetite for local housing. At present there’s a real need for local homes for local people, so we are pleased to be in a position to ease this need and help to build on and further strengthen the community.”
