Local housebuilder to spread Christmas cheer at Freeman Children’s Heart Unit

Barratt Homes in the North East is calling on the local community to help make a poorly child’s Christmas special by donating a gift to be delivered to the Children’s Heart Unit at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.

The housebuilder is donating £500 worth of Christmas presents, which will be delivered by Santa to children at the hospital in the run up to Christmas and it is asking the local community to drop gifts at its Lakeside View, Hazel Walk, Mandale Park and the Limes developments in Newcastle, Durham and Teeside respectively, before 9th December to be added to the special delivery.

The Children’s Heart Unit at Freeman Hospital, which is based on Freeman Road, provides care for children up to 18 years old who need medical or surgical help for conditions involving the heart, lungs and airways. It is also one of only two places in the UK to carry out children’s heart and lung transplants.

Fenton Hewitt, Sales Director at Barratt Homes North East, commented: “We are really pleased to be able to donate these toys to such a great local cause and we hope the local community will support the initiative so we can help to make the Santa visit special for as many children as possible. Obviously, a hospital is not a nice place for any child to be, but if our donations can help to make a child’s time more bearable, particularly during the festive season, then it is so worth it. Barratt Homes is dedicated to helping the local community where possible and will continue to do so in 2015.”

Lakeside View is a fantastic development of two, three and four bedroom homes in Killingworth. Hazel Walk is a development of two, three and four bedroom homes located near to Newcastle city centre. Mandale Park is located in the popular town of Thornaby-on-Tees and offers a beautiful range of two, three and four bedroom, detached, semi-detached and terraced homes. The Limes is an established community in the quiet village of Coxhoe, County Durham offering a range of two, three and four bedroom homes.
