One year on and Europa’s West Yorkshire branch celebrates record growth
Europa’s West Yorkshire branch, based in Wakefield, is celebrating its first anniversary with unprecedented growth in the region. In the last four months alone, the Wakefield branch has more than doubled its customer base.
Europa Worldwide Logistics, one of the UK’s largest privately owned transport companies, opened the sales branch at Calder Park at the end of last year to support Yorkshire businesses looking to import and export. Strategically located at one of the fastest growing businesses parks in the region, Europa has contributed to exports in the Yorkshire and Humber region growing 4.1 per cent this year*, as well as improved import figures.
On average, Europa’s West Yorkshire sales branch secures 15 new customers every month this reflects buoyancy in the logistics sector, expected to continue into next year where around 75 per cent of operators expect their turnover to increase in 2015**. According The UK Business Confidence Monitor Report Yorkshire and Humberside expect output growth to increase by 2.5 per cent in 2015***.
Europa’s West Yorkshire branch covers the whole of Yorkshire, serving clients to mainland Europe, meeting a growing customer demand for both import and export services, specifically on its pan European and Scandinavian daily services.
Co-inciding with the 1st anniversary Europa has also announced £100,000 investment in the latest communications solution across the business in its drive to be innovative and improve productivity.
Europa’s branch manager Nathan Lynn says “We have had a fantastic year with continued growth for our customers and services. It is an exciting time for us, and we anticipate next year being just as busy. Our presence in Yorkshire is growing and we are looking forward to seeing where this takes us in 2015.”
Dionne Redpath Branch Network & Sales Director at Europa added “This is one of the fastest growing regions and we’re very pleased with the impact the branch has made in the local market over the past 12 months. The team have worked incredibly hard and I’d like to thank them all for their efforts.”
The £100,000 is the latest in a series of significant investments made by the company, as part of a programme of ambitious restructuring to re-engineer and improve efficiencies for Europa’s customers across its 11 branches and sites in the UK.
The project will see the national rollout of a new communications solution across the whole of the UK. Expected to be complete and in place by May 2015, the system will also enable telephony to be integrated with the company’s bespoke new IT system, known as Leonardo, further enhancing the £1.7m IT investment announced earlier this year.
Leonardo is a project designed to rewrite Europa’s core road freight systems. It is the first stage of a long term investment programme that will see the company’s operations and communications streamlined. Once completed, the new system will offer a fully integrated, end-to-end freight management system, providing a fully harmonised system across the branches and partner network.
The system will increase mobility, enabling Europa’s 500 plus employees to ‘hot-desk’ to other branches and have their calls move with them and integrates mobile phones as extensions on the system. All communications activity with real-time reports will be visible and an analysis of individual and branch performance can be provided on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
Offering a comprehensive logistics services Europe offers European road freights services, air & sea and specialist warehouse facilities. The firm employs 500 people across 11 sites in the UK, plus an office in Hong Kong and is represented in 100 counties. Europa carries around 500,000 consignments annually.
Europa was acquired last year by Andrew Baxter, who announced plans for significant investment in the business. Construction is about to start on the new state-of-the-art 262,500 sq. ft (24,387 sq. mt) site at Prologis Park near Dartford, strategically located to benefit from the £1.5 billion London Gateway project, which aims to build the UK’s first major multi-modal deep-sea container port and Europe’s largest logistics park.
