11 new jobs at Lancashire’s OBAS UK

Lancashire-based OBAS UK Ltd has announced a refinancing package in partnership with Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, resulting in six additional jobs with five further roles anticipated for the New Year.

From its headquarters in Longridge, near Preston, OBAS sells both locally and nationwide, with ranges including construction supplies, workwear, personal protection equipment (PPE) and safety gear.

The six new roles include three apprenticeships and three additional sales people, with the company anticipating five further jobs to be created in the New Year in customer service, credit control and admin.

Additionally, OBAS is to utilise the refinancing package to maximise marketing opportunities, including the promotion of the company’s own branded product ranges, whilst injecting additional working capital into the business.

OBAS CEO Norman Tenray said: “Working in partnership with Lloyds Bank gives us a great outlook for growth in the future, allowing us to scale up the business to meet the demands of our customers and provide much needed local employment.”

“The construction industry was probably the worst hit industry during the recent recession and where many other businesses have failed, we’ve maintained our position by focussing on continuity and sustainability, however growth has eluded us.”

“Growth will come from re-establishing our unique and vibrant brand, and by opening up our new routes to market including key accounts, trade counter and ecommerce, and it’s essential we have the capacity in place internally to deal with the additional demand these new routes to market create.”

“Marketing the business will be carried out through our in-house marketing team whose specialisms include design, search marketing, email marketing and social media marketing, enabling us to extol our unique values, culture and philosophy to our existing customer base, and prospective customers alike.”

Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking Relationship Manager, Di Davies, said: “OBAS has weathered the recent recession by building a reputation for producing high quality products and offering an excellent level of service to its customers.

“This finance facility will enable OBAS to grow as the construction industry continues its recovery, enabling the company to take full advantage of expansion opportunities when they appear.

“This has already helped the business to create sustainable employment opportunities locally through apprenticeships and full-time jobs, and new roles should continue to be created in the future as OBAS continues to implement its growth plans.”
