Interview: Denis Renty of Van Bulck beers on branding, crowdfunding and global success
Kent-based craft beer retailer Van Bulck has had a successful year; after crowdfunding £30k in just 48 hours back in June, the Tunbridge Wells firm is in the process of signing a deal with a major UK distributor.
Belgian entrepreneur Denis Renty established Van Bulck after spotting a gap in the UK market for all-organic, gluten-free beers.
Van Bulck currently distributes its products via the Van Bulck website as well as through various retailers, wholesalers, pubs and restaurants across the world.
Denis employs one full time member of staff, with three interns starting in January. He is hoping to keep two of the interns on in full time positions after five months.
Denis told Bdaily about the crowdfunding process, he said: “I approached the team at www.angelsden.com and managed to secure not only the target I wanted but in fact doubled it and split the money between two different investors in less than 48 hours”
Denis has high hopes for 2015, he continued: “We are currently in the middle of signing a large contract with a national distributor for the UK and Ireland which will give us the opportunity to be listed alongside some highly prestigious producers who are already sold in major retailers, top restaurants and 5* hotels in and around London.
“We have also signed up for a food and drink trade show in Hong Kong which will take place in May 2015 where we will share a big stand with our distributor for Hong Kong and will hopefully breakthrough to the Asian market through a permanent base in Hong Kong.”
