Business Admin Apprentice starts at Durham Engineering company

Tyne North Training has been recruiting engineering apprentices for over 40 years. Almost two years ago, TNT recruited an Advanced Engineering Apprentice for Cyrus RW Group at their site in Ryton. The Group’s core business is to offer extensive mechanical, polymer and electrical engineering services for turnkey engineering projects. Due to the success of the first TNT Apprenticeship programme, Cyrus made a decision to recruit a Business and Administration Apprentice to support the busy administration and sales office.

Rebecca Hanson, TNT’s specialist Business and Administration Training Officer met with the management team at Cyrus and agreed on a job role and framework. Here, an apprentice would gain invaluable experience and Cyrus would be able to develop the right specialist skills required for their business.

One of the challenges which TNT had was recruiting a candidate either locally or who had means of transport to get to work every morning. During the recruitment process, one particular individual stood out from the rest; Abi Kettlewell. Abi was recruited and is now forging herself a career within the company. Her general attitude to get things done and her enthusiasm has certainly being utilised, especially in the past few months when the company has relocated its business to new premises in County Durham.

Rebecca commented “Our Business & Administration Apprenticeship training has expanded across our engineering portfolio of employers. We can now offer the full TNT apprenticeship package which includes Design, Engineering, Manufacturing and Business & Administration Apprenticeships.”
