North East litigation firm expands services with new motoring arm
North East litigation firm TLW Solicitors has expanded its services by introducing its new motor offences arm ‘MotoPro’ to the business as a result of an increasing number of enquiries into motoring offence law.
The law firm based in North Shields, launched MotoPro earlier this month, which historically sees the highest level of offences all year, in the aim of advising and helping scores of drivers understand the law and to ensure they receive the correct sanction by the courts.
With the average motoring offence fines rising by 46% since 2002 and new changes in the law due to come into effect in March next year regarding drug driving (including prescription drugs), TLW solicitors has identified a gap in the market to offer niche professional advice for North East drivers.
With a seasonal increase of motoring offences across December and January, solicitor Jennifer Close, head of MotoPro at TLW Solicitors, explains that this statistic affects everyone from students to corporate business professionals.
She said: “The police do not take into account who you are or what your social status is, if you are found committing a motoring offence, it could result in penalty points, fines, bans and sometimes even prison sentences.
“With extensive marketing and TV ads, we all know that the festive season and New Year is a prominent time for all drivers to be extra careful on the roads. However, there are a number of other motoring offences, which many are still not aware are actually offences that could lead to convictions.
“For example, in 2012 out of 22 police forces 363 people were arrested after being breathalysed the day after the night before were still found to be legally over the limit.
The courts will not take a more lenient view if you are ‘accidentally’ over the limit the next morning and on your way to that all important meeting or appointment.
“It is important to be aware that being convicted of a drink driving or other motoring offence can have all sorts of implications to your home and work life.
“With this in mind, we launched MotoPro as many drivers can often face the magistrates without representation or advice on what their rights are.
“Although we are very keen to stress that we do not condone dangerous driving in any form, we have vast experience in dealing with these sorts of offences and can offer professional legal advice and representation.
“Without professional help, many additional problems could escalate for the driver and they could make unintentional serious errors in what they should do next.”
Established in 2000, TLW Solicitors has grown into one of the UK’s leading litigation law firms and employs over 50 members of staff.
