Hartlepool’s C&A Pumps on fire with specialist equipment
Hartlepool-based engineering company, C&A Pumps and Engineering, has found success after filling a gap in a niche market.
C&A, a water solution and drainage specialist, has come to the rescue of the region’s fire departments, providing them with a specialist temperature gauge for their training units.
The company has previously worked with Tyne and Wear Fire Brigade and more recently found a solution for their counterparts in Cleveland.
Managing Director of C&A Pumps, Alan Roberts, said: “Because the equipment is so specialist, it was proving a little difficult for Cleveland Fire Brigade to find a company that could source and install the system.
“The Brigade’s training facility is obviously a big part of what they do and the temperature of the training base must be correctly measured in high heats, to ensure maximum safety.
“Cleveland Fire Brigade approached their colleagues in Tyne and Wear to see if they had any advice, and it turned out they had used us in the past.
“It just so happens we are over the road from their headquarters in Hartlepool which meant they didn’t have far to go and within six weeks of us being contacted, the sensor had been refitted and the service was back up and running.”
Anthony Petrie, Maintenance Manager at Cleveland Fire Brigade was delighted at the speed and expertise of C&A Pumps.
He said: “We’ve used C&A Pumps in the past for various maintenance work and of course for our pumps and drainage but this was a completely different challenge for us.
“We’d previously worked with other companies in the region, but none had managed to provide a solution.
“Within six weeks, C&A Pumps had planned, designed, came on site and ensured our site was fit for training.”
C&A Pumps hopes the success of this project will open up further avenues for the company.
Alan added: “It can be difficult to put across all the services we provide to businesses. Although we may work on one specific area for a company, there are probably many other services and projects we could look at carrying out for them.
“We specialise in specialist engineering, as well as general maintenance, water solutions, lighting and much more. We would always urge businesses to come to us with what they need and see how we can help.”
