Recycling Company's Festive Fundraiser Supports Christmas Jumper Day

Employees at environmental and green energy specialist, Leo Group Ltd, donned their festive attire on Friday 12th December to support Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day.

Leo Group, which operates sites across the UK including its head office in Halifax and Omega Proteins in Penrith, raised over £410 through its festive fundraiser. Employees got into the festive spirit by wearing a Christmas jumper and making a donation of £2 each.

A competition for the best Christmas jumper ensured some friendly rivalry with employees pulling out all the stops to compete for the top prize. The winner, as voted for by the team, was an impressive Christmas tree jumper, complete with flashing fairy lights.

In addition, rather than sending Christmas cards this year the company made a further contribution to its fundraising efforts for Save the Children.

The Group employs more than 420 people across its ten operational sites in the UK and is at the forefront of the recycling and green energy sectors.

A spokesman from Leo Group said: “Taking part in Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day has not only raised much needed funds for the charity but it has also helped us all get into the festive spirit. Everyone has thoroughly enjoyed the day!“

“The event also created awareness of the invaluable work that Save the Children does to improve the lives of children across the world. We’re glad we were able to raise some money to support the excellent work that the charity does.“

“Leo Group is committed to supporting charity work through events like this as well as its Community Fund grants for local grassroots organisations.“

Founded in 2011, Leo Group’s Community Fund offers grants to local charities and good causes. Funding is directed towards groups working with children and young adults. Applications for the current round of grants close on 27th February 2015. Please email Melanie.rosser@leogroupltd.co.uk for an application form and guidelines. The Community Fund is just one aspect of Leo Group’s community work. In the past two years Leo Groups charitable donations have been in excess of £250,000.
