Cheers! Yorkshire gets a taste of the Oscars

A Yorkshire pub company is to become one of only a handful of venues in the region to offer Thienot champagne, as enjoyed by stars like Emma Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch, thanks to a new partnership with Ripon-based supplier Yorkshire Vintners.

Ainsty Inns, part of Ainsty Group LLP and the company behind three of the region’s best- rated country pubs launched this exclusive Growers’ Champagne to guests on New Years’ Eve at all three of its venues across Yorkshire including the Chequers Inn in Bilton-in-Ainsty, the Beehive in Thorner and the Swan and Talbot in Wetherby.

Thienot is a small-scale Champagne House growing in fame as a result of celebrity chef, Wolfgang Puck, selecting the tipple as the drink of choice at the Oscars for the last two years due to its perfect pairing with a range of flavours and dishes.

Ainsty Inns’ partnership with Yorkshire Vintners will also see its venues offering celebrated English sparkling wine, Nyetimber, produced in West Sussex by one of the world’s most proficient family winemaking teams.

Ainsty Group partner, Antony Pratt said: “We chose Yorkshire Vintners as a supplier not only because as a business they emulate our own values of high quality and service, but also because the team is committed to sourcing products which offer customers something a little above the ordinary.

“Both Thienot and Nyetimber are produced by family businesses with a focus on creating wines that stand out from the crowd and deliver unrivalled taste in every drop. The new partnership means our guests have no excuse for empty glasses when toasting the New Year!”

Simon Jackson, managing director of Yorkshire Vintners said: “When I set up Yorkshire Vintners over four years ago it was borne out of a love of wine and its origins which are both demonstrated in the houses of Thienot and Nyetimber.

“As soon as I met Antony and his team I could see their dedication to selecting the best ingredients with a focus on provenance and knew these two sparkling wines would be the perfect fit. Thienot only produces around 300,000 bottles of Champagne a year, compared to the 32m produced by Houses like Moet & Chandon, so guests visiting any of the Ainsty Inns venues can guarantee they will be tasting something special.”
