Cramlington corrosion management company expands with new product division

Strategic Corrosion Management (SCM) has created a new Products and Services division to develop and market its expanding range of corrosion prevention and mitigation solutions to the oil & gas, energy and process sectors.

The company, which has operations in Cramlington, Aberdeen and Lowestoft, has recruited experienced engineering professional Marc Dabbs to lead the new division.

Marc, who has a strong technical background from roles held in industries such as Lean Production, Manufacturing Operations and Construction & Property, will oversee the development of the new division, which includes managing new product concepts and building relationships across industry.

SCM is a world leader in all aspects of corrosion management and control, corrosion prevention techniques including coatings selection, insulation and passive fire protection and has been serving clients in the North Sea, Europe, Far and Middle East, Africa and the Americas for more than 30 years.

The new division will build upon the success of SCM’s flagship specialist toolset ‘RISCm’ (Risk, Integrity & Strategic Corrosion Management), which is underpinned by extensive knowledge of material corrosion and degradation in harsh industrial environments.

Its management systems are currently deployed on more than 129 facilities with at least 300 client assets having deployed the SCM technologies on past projects.

With staff working across its UK operations plus a consultancy support network of Corrosion Specialists and an Engineer pool of more than 60, SCM supports the long-term integrity of off and onshore oil & gas installations, chemical process plants and manufacturing facilities.

Products and Services Division Coordinator, Marc Dabbs, said: “This is an exciting time to join Strategic Corrosion Management and I am delighted to have been tasked with leading this new division.

“As the company enters its 30th anniversary year, we are planning to build upon its established international reputation for effective corrosion management solutions.

“Working with new and existing clients across the energy and chemical sectors, we will continue to support their asset management programmes and safety protocols around the world with new and innovative products and services that meet the challenges of technology-led industries.”
