Manchester-based firms team up to improve online connectivity
Two Manchester-based firms have teamed up in a mission to significantly improve connectivity solutions for online businesses across the country.
Managed hosting and colocation firm UKFast, and fibre network The Loop will now offer lightning-fast network connectivity via thousands of miles worth of underground fibre optics.
The partnership is part of UKFast’s mission to become the most globally-connected colocation provider outside of London.
Based in the Manchester Science and Technology Park, the firm has four carrier-neutral data centres in Trafford Park and is now be able to expand its delivery with The Loop, Manchester’s metropolitan fibre optic network that links major commercial points in Manchester.
The Loop, which is part of Gamma Communications PLC, has its network operations centre in Trafford Park.
It offers ultrafast connectivity for businesses close to its 82 km (50 mile) fibre network that stretches around the city of Manchester.
The services are supported by Gamma’s Network Operations Centre in Manchester’s Trafford Park.
UKFast CEO Lawrence Jones said: “Partnerships like our work with The Loop are essential for delivering the very best service to internet users.
“As having an online presence becomes an essential for almost every business in the UK, it becomes increasingly important that they are supported by the best quality networks.
“We’re excited to be working with The Loop; by collating our services, we are offering something very special to our clients and to businesses across the UK.”
Managing director of The Loop Ashley Griffiths, said: “We’re really pleased to have joined forces with one of the region’s leading hosting and colocation firms.
“This partnership means Manchester businesses, especially those who are involved in transferring data, can really benefit.
“Unlike most providers there’s no ‘up to’ a certain speed with The Loop because we can guarantee maximum connectivity speeds at all times.”
