DX acquires CityLink assets in £1.1 million deal
Iver-based parcels, mail and logistics network provider DX has reached agreement with the Administrators of the now-defunct City Link Ltd to acquire assets in a deal worth £1.125 million.
CityLink fell announced its failure on Christmas Day, putting 2,727 at risk across the country.
Petar Cvetkovic, Chief Executive of DX, said: “It is very sad that City Link has been unable to continue as a going concern, particularly for its employees and contractors. The Administrators are now proceeding with an orderly sale of assets and we have made a limited investment to acquire certain assets.
We are also doing all we can to provide opportunities for former City Link employees and contractors and to offer solutions to Customers who may need a new carrier.“
RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said: “It is clear that a fire sale of the remaining assets of City Link is underway and it is outrageous that the union is being denied a meeting and proper consultation with the administrator when there is a chance to rescue jobs out of the wreckage left behind by the Christmas Day collapse of the company.
“RMT is fighting on for justice for the City Link workforce and we are calling again for direct talks with all of those pulling the strings, including Vince Cable and the Government, to see just what can be done for the thousands of workers still left facing personal ruin.”
