Seaham’s MetroMail creates 10 new jobs following growth
One of the country’s full service mailing houses is creating at least 10 jobs including two apprenticeships following sustained businesss growth.
MetroMail already employs 220 people at its state-of-the-art facility at Fox Cover Enterprise Park in Seaham.
But after seeing output increase, new clients being attracted and new innovations in the pipeline, the company has announced it is to create the new positions early in 2015 with further recruitment planned throughout the year.
MetroMail was founded more than 25 years ago and in 2010 moved from its base in Peterlee to a 140,000 sq ft facility in Seaham, marking a significant expansion for the company and millions of pounds of investment in the latest industry technology.
It provides services including mailing, laser printing, poly wrapping and data management to clients across a diverse range of sectors, particularly mail order and financial services. MetroMail handles up to one million pieces of mail every day.
Managing Director at MetroMail, Alan Purvis, said: “Every year we’ve seen our business grow and we’re now in the position where we need to add to our workforce in several key areas of the company to ensure further growth in 2015.
“We’re also committed to our talent attraction programme where we look to bring young people with real potential into the business, who can we can train and invest in. So as well as the recruitment of people with experience, we’ll be appointing two apprentices, one in administration and one engineer.
“Both are really exciting positions for the right person. I started my career as an apprentice so it is something I am passionate about being able to do.
“Since moving to this larger facility in Seaham, we’ve really been able to push forward with our growth plans and that’s reflected our financial results. Next year we’re aiming for even greater things and have some exciting announcements which will take the business to the next level.”
