Lancashire Carer Crowned Best in North West

A Lancashire carer has been recognised as the best home care coordinator in the North West at a prestigious awards evening celebrating the cream of the care industry.

Chantel O’Reilly, of Preston-based home care specialist Community Life Choices, fought off stiff competition at the Great British North West Care Awards in a category that honours the unsung heroes within the care sector.

The 30-year-old from Penwortham joined more than 400 guests at a glittering awards evening at the Palace Hotel in Manchester. Now in their sixth year, the Great British Care Awards pay tribute to those that demonstrate excellence in their field of work.

Chantel will now undergo a national judging day with a panel of industry peers and join eight other regional winners at a ceremony in London - to be held early 2015 - to compete for the title of the nation’s best home care coordinator.

Commenting on the news, Chantel said: “I’m speechless! The team and I work so hard to deliver the best care to individuals and families across the region – so to have it acknowledged at such a prestigious event is absolutely fantastic.

“We may be small in size but we have huge ambition and I look forward to the challenge of the next stage and hopefully bringing home the national prize.”

An expert from the judging panel said: “Chantel’s natural person-centred approaches shine through on every level. She has an excellent understanding of the link between well trained, supported and motivated staff and the provision of high quality person-centred support.”

Community Life Choices specialises in the provision of five-star home care to adults and children in need of personalised health and social care services.

Alan Frew, managing director of Community Life Choices, concluded: “We’re all immensely proud of Chantel’s achievement. She’s very modest when it comes to recognising her success, but is one who is hugely deserved of praise for always going above and beyond her line of work to deliver outstanding care.”
