Newcastle’s Cavu to press ahead with expansion plans following strong 2014 finish
Newcastle-based Cavu Corporate Finance are looking forward to a buoyant 2015 after a strong finish to last year which saw them land two significant deals.
Cavu advised the senior management teams at Hartlepool based J&B Recycling and Alnwick-headquartered housebuilder Cussins as both firms secured multi-million pound funding packages to support expansion plans.
Both deals were backed with finance from the Business Growth Fund (BGF), with Shawn Bone, managing director of Cavu saying he expects to advise on similar deals over the coming months.
Cavu Corporate Finance founder, Mr. Bone, said: “SME valuations are on the rise and this is fuelling the desire of the region’s entrepreneurs to press ahead with their expansion plans.
“When we took the growth proposal of J&B Recycling to the markets it generated a lot of interest, demonstrating the availability of funding for businesses with compelling and coherent strategies and propositions.”
Managing director of J&B, Vikki Jackson-Smith, said: “We are a family business and this is the first time we have raised equity from an external source, so it was essential that our advisers could structure a deal to meet our objectives - the team at Cavu exceeded our expectations.”
“Cavu Corporate Finance’s knowledge of the UK development capital and private equity markets is impressive and they had strong relationships with all of the equity funders.
“They were professional and accessible and we would have no hesitation recommending them to anyone considering raising equity or selling their business.”
Teesside based corporate partner with national law firm Bond Dickinson, who provide legal support to the team at J&B Recycling, Nigel Williams, said: “J&B is a great example of the many quality, family owned businesses on Teesside with exciting growth plans and the will to succeed.
“The funds from BGF will help them achieve their planned growth which can only be good for this area.”
