Black Country residents celebrate 500 home refurbishments

Residents in the Black Country have newly-modernised homes after Wates Living Space successfully completed a £1.4m contract with Black Country Housing Group (BCHG) to refurbish 500 kitchens across the Black Country.

The affordable housing developer removed outdated kitchens from 500 homes across Dudley and Sandwell for leading local social business BCHG, replacing them with modern facilities.

BCHG provides quality, affordable housing and employment advice as well as personalised care and support services across the Black Country and Birmingham.

The five-year refurbishment programme also saw Wates Living Space appoint two local subcontractors and an electrical apprentice to help deliver the work.

Stewart Reid, Business Director at Wates Living Space, commented: “We have an exceptional track record in improving tenants’ homes and to achieve a 99% customer satisfaction rate during this project was a credit to our team and the local businesses that we employed.

“The customers we have helped have been thrilled with their new kitchens and we look forward to working with BCHG to help improve the quality of life for more of their residents in the future.”

Jackie O’Callaghan, head of property services at Black Country Housing Group, commented: “At BCHG we have an ongoing programme of improvements to make sure that the quality of our housing is second to none. By working with Wates Living Space over the past five-years, we have been able to deliver improvements that make a real difference to the lives of our customers across the Black Country and Birmingham.”
