Change up your handset to suit your business.

In this day and age mobile phone manufacturers are releasing new mobile phone handsets every few months. It’s a competitive market and an industry that is constantly growing and evolving.

The general perception by many is that Apple dominate the UK market and it is quite easy to see why. In Q3 of 2014, Apple had 28.1% of the UK market share, helped with iPhone 5C sales almost equating that of the iPhone 5S. However there is more on the market than the media and public perception would have you believe; Samsung lead the way with over 42% of the UK mobile phone market share. There are over 85 million mobile phone subscriptions in the UK with a population of just over 64 million. So there is enough to go around, although that is not what manufacturers will want you to think.

Q3 of 2014 saw Nokia lose ground in market share as it fell from 9.1% to 7.5%. This came about as sales figures of Lumia dropped. This is something of a surprise considering their popularity in businesses. BlackBerry market share levels are continuing to drop – going from 11% last year, to 6.5% this and a forecasted drop to 3.5% of market share next year. BlackBerry are making strong attempts to clamber back some of that market share. The release of the BlackBerry Classic at the back end of 2014 is a modern twist on the classic original BlackBerry handset.

The company has taken a nostalgic approach and conducted a lot of research into current and previous BlackBerry users to determine what they do and do not like about their devices.

As alluded to earlier, it is South Korean conglomerate Samsung that lead the way in the UK market. The ease and simplicity of the device aided with the plethora of features available mean this is an attractive phone across a wide range of demographics. Samsung have spent a lot of time and money in finding the right product that people want and have devised a range of handsets that each fit slightly better than others to varying audiences. Combined, the Samsung Galaxy Note and Samsung Galaxy S ranges offer ideal solutions that have ticked many boxes for people all throughout the UK.

Besides the devices mentioned in this article (Nokia, BlackBerry and Samsung) there are other mobile phone manufacturers out there that can offer the perfect fit for you and your business. Not sure which device would be best? Talk to Agile, we’ll get you sorted!
