Hat-trick of award nominations for Northumberland company
A Northumberland-based biomass boiler installation company has been shortlisted for three national industry awards.
The Wood Heating Company, along with sister company IXUS Energy, which distributes boilers, has been nominated for three awards at the H&V News Awards 2015.
The awards include: District Heating Project of the Year, Domestic H&V Product of the Year (in collaboration with biomass boilers manufacturer, KWB) and Training Initiative of the Year.
The District Heating Project of the Year shortlisting was thanks to a project in New Bewick in North Northumberland, where a chip boiler was installed to deliver heat to a farm estate covering two farmhouses, eight cottages and an office at a farm.
The Wood Heating Company’s £100k investment in a state-of-the-art training centre – the only dedicated training facility in the north of the UK – also led to an award shortlisting.
Commenting on the announcement, Mike Blakeley, managing director at The Wood Heating Company, said: “It’s great to hear we’re in the running for more top awards having won the Rural Heating Installer of the Year last year.
“We put so much effort into promoting biomass as an effective and sustainable energy choice, whilst providing the market with high quality installations that boost both the reputation of our business and the sector in general.
“It’s fantastic that our hard work is being recognised and we’ll be crossing our fingers on the night!”
The awards, hosted by the publication Heating & Ventilation News (H&V News), aim to recognise outstanding suppliers, companies and contractors in the building services industry.
There have been more entries to this year’s awards than ever before, meaning only those who demonstrated the very highest standards have made it through to the final stage.
The next round of judging will take place on 3 March when The Wood Heating Company will be required to give a presentation to the judging panel. The winners will then be announced during an awards ceremony on 16 April at the Grosvenor Hotel, London.
