Leeds Jewellers Add Post Xmas Sparkle To Local Hospice

This week local award winning bespoke jewellers, Form Bespoke Jewellers, extended Christmas for local children’s hospice, Martin House, as they delivered a cash gift of £775 to the team, as part of a celebration of their 10th Anniversary.

Earlier in the year, when Form Bespoke Jewellers achieved their 10 Year Anniversary milestone, the business ran a competition which asked customers to chart where they had travelled with their jewellery, for the chance to win a bespoke 9ct white gold diamond ‘globe’ pendant crafted in Form’s Yorkshire workshop.

Form also committed to donating the equivalent value of the pendant to the winner’s chosen charity.

After receiving hundreds of stories which were charted on a world map, the winner was Martin Bland and he chose Martin House in Wetherby, in memory of

Annabelle Brass, a friend’s foster daughter who passed away at the hospice.

Yesterday, Directors Tim Swann and Gary Thompson presented Brenda Peel, Head of Corporate and Events, with the money.

Tim said: “Here at Form, we wanted to give something back to our loyal customers whilst also involving them in marking our achievement of longevity. We build strong relationships with our customers as we work so closely with them on a piece of jewellery that is very special to them. That’s why we chose to include a local charity close to our customer’s hearts to be the one we would support.”

Martin said: “When Form told me I had won I was delighted - not only for my fiancée who loved the pendant, but to be able to donate such a significant amount to a charity close to my heart. I’d like to thank Form for this lovely gesture”.

The aim of Martin House is to provide family led care for children with life shortening conditions. It is a place where children, young people and their families can come to stay from time to time along their journey and find support, rest and practical help. It is a place of love and understanding, a peaceful place but one that can also have a lively, friendly atmosphere full of fun and laughter, where children and their families can enjoy the best quality of life. - martinhouse.org

Brenda Peel, Head of Corporate and Event, met the team on their arrival and gave them a privileged tour of the gardens and chapel. Ms Peel also took time to talk through the history of the hospice, which was the second of its kind to be opened in the UK, and also pointed out the new “Den” – a unique ‘grown-up’ space specially designed and built this year for teenagers at the hospice.

‘It costs around £4.9 million a year to run the hospice, £3.5 million of which is provided solely on legacies, fundraising and donations. Without this money, Martin House would not be able to provide the vital support and care for local families in need of their services.’
