Biggest Warmroom homes contract for Anchor Magnets

Sheffield’s Anchor Magnets has secured its biggest ever sale of an innovative magnetic energy saving device with a 120,000 unit order for a North-West housing association.

The Warmroom product order, worth almost £100,000, is with Community Gateway Association (CGA) in Preston, which saw the chance to help its tenants with fuel poverty and to save on winter bills.

CGA will supply 4,000 homes across Preston with Warmroom magnetic strips, which have been shown to save 60 per cent of unnecessary heat loss from radiators by preventing heat radiating through external walls.

Mike Burton, director at Anchor Magnets, a member of the National Housing Federation, said: “This is the single largest order for Warmroom that we have taken and shows the level of marketability that the product has in an increasingly energy and environmentally aware society.

“CGA saw the opportunity to take a simple step towards increased efficiency and saving energy wastage across 4,000 properties, with the main focus on reducing bills for its tenants.”

CGA has already taken 50,000 sheets, with additional 70,000 to be delivered through January and February. The product is now included in every tenant’s Winter Wiser campaign pack containing tips and products to help cut home living costs.

Jackie Bird, tenancy support team leader at CGA , said: “Energy costs are always a priority for our tenants. Warmroom can be retro fitted with no tools required and is proven to perform well as a heat saver.

“Savings through the adoption of this technology can make a significant difference to low income household energy bills, where people can face fuel poverty.”

Housing association Arawak Walton in Manchester has also ordered 2,700 Warmroom strips for 100 of its properties.

The magnetic product, developed in conjunction with the University of Sheffield and first trialled by South Yorkshire Housing Association, clings to the rear of a standard steel radiator, and makes sure conductive heat is pushed back into the room rather than into the walls.

Anchor Magnets is a leading supplier of magnetic point of sale materials used by Vodaphone, O2, Marks and Spencer, Tesco, Morrisons and many other High Street retailers.
