Diva sees double at UK Sexual Health Awards

Sheffield agency Diva is delighted to announce that two of its projects have been shortlisted for the UK Sexual Health Awards 2015.

“Ten ways a condom can’t protect you” has been nominated for Sexual Health Media Campaign/Storyline of the year. Which comes just a week after it was awarded Best Use of Video at the Northern Digital Awards.

‘Ur Decision’, a website co-developed with young people in Warwickshire, has also been shortlisted for Young People’s Sexual Health Service/Project of the Year.

Ur Decision is a website that uses video to explore a range of key issues that affect young people, such as ‘sexting’. The judges have recognised the project for its fresh approach to helping young people to consider all their options when faced with difficult choices and for equipping them with the vocabulary to negotiate to difficult situations.

Since launching in September 2014, Ur Decision has been visited almost 3,500 times and shared by young people hundreds of times on social media.

Luke Carter, Project Manager for Respect Yourself, said: “The team is really happy that Ur Decision has received this well-deserved recognition.

“Its success really lies with the fact that all the ideas for the video scenarios came from open, frank discussions with young people – ensuring the website relates to its audience.

“We’re now looking forward to developing Ur Decision further, with new situations and content being added soon.“

The prestigious awards, now in their fourth year, recognised the most outstanding projects and people who work in the field of sexual health. Previous winners include The HIV HOP, created by Diva and Sexual Health Sheffield for World AIDS day 2012, which was named Sexual Health Media Campaign/Storyline of the year in 2013.

Competition at the awards is fierce, with “Ten Ways” and “Ur Decision” up against the likes of Hollyoaks, Eastenders and Emmerdale in their categories. The winners will be chosen in a ceremony at the Hotel Russell in London on Friday 6th March in aid of the charities Brook and FPA.
