Relish South East launched at Ockendon Manor
Relish Publications celebrated the launch of their latest publication, Relish South East in style, at Ockendon Manor Hotel and Spa.
Relish Publications, is the UK’s leading fine dining guide and recipe book publisher, and the special event on 26th January 2015, was a rare one off gathering of all the featured restaurants and many of the leading culinary lights from across the South East of England. Executive teams, head chefs and owners of the South East’s leading restaurants were in attendance, and the event was the culmination of six months hard work for everyone involved.
Commenting on the event and the completion of the latest guide/book, Duncan Peters, Managing Publisher from Relish Publications said: ‘The setting for the launch of our latest book could not have been better. Ockendon Manor is a truly unique location and has a fabulous restaurant, so we were delighted to have so many new members of the extended Relish Publishing family along, to toast this excellent new book and celebrate with us. Relish South East is undoubtedly one of the most impressive books we have produced in this long running series, due to the plethora of outstanding restaurants in the region. With so many acclaimed restaurants across the South East, we decided to alter the format from other books in the series, giving each sub region its own foreword, and a Michelin starred head chef from each area, introducing the best of the local culinary scene.’
‘The launch was a chance to catch up with the many chefs who have contributed their signature dishes to this new book, and thank them for helping us create something really special. The book is a real treat for serious food lovers everywhere. This guide represents a region perfectly, and we know that all the hard working teams who came along to the launch and contributed to the book, have enjoyed seeing the finished product as much as we have.’
Celebrated chef, Angela Hartnett, who wrote the main foreword for Relish South East was keen to reflect on the local producers and great produce available in the South East and commented: ‘The South East of England is home to some incredible produce, from wild mushrooms to garlic, venison, beef and lamb. The producers who farm and rear this produce are an important part of the local community and supporting them helps the community to prosper. I was brought up in Kent with a passion for good, honest food instilled in me by my Italian grandmother and mother.’
The book also features a larder section containing details of dozens of local producers who daily provide outstanding produce to some of the best restaurants in the country. Relish South East is now available to buy features many of these leading restaurants across the region including; Boulters Restaurant and Bar, Humphrey’s, Hartnett, Holder and Co, The Terrace at The Montagu Arms Hotel, The White Horse Hotel and Brasserie, Amberley Castle, The Chequers Inn, Deans Place Hotel, The Earl of March, Matt Gillan at the Pass, Ockendon Manor Hotel and Spa, The Restaurant at Drakes, Terre a Terre, The Abinger Hatch, The French Table, The Minnis Bar and Restaurant, Read’s Restaurant with Rooms, The Swan, Thackeray’s Restaurant, and finally Food and Wine Pairing by Bluebell Vineyard.
