FLYERALARM reaches milestone in climate-neutral printing

January 29, 2015 – since 2010, FLYERALARM, the leading European B2B - online printing company, has neutralised the equivalent of more than 50,000 tons of CO2‚‚, measuring up to an annual carbon emission of around 20,000 homes. CO2‚‚-emissions have been reduced by more than 50 per cent in comparison to conventional commercial printing, making this milestone even more ground-breaking.

By offering, “climate-neutral printing”, FLYERALARM is able to support selected climate protection programmes in Mali, Ghana and Taiwan. If customers opt into “climate-neutral printing” a sum of money will be donated to the projects. Customers can become more involved in the programme by tracking how much CO2‚‚ has been neutralised in real-time online.

In order to offer, “climate-neutral printing”, FLYERALARM identified the amount of CO2‚‚ produced in the printing of its products includingmaterials used in production, the running of machines, and the delivery process. By supporting and working closely with First Climate Markets AG, an experienced and reliable partner for quality climate protection projects, FLYERALARM can progress with their environmental initiatives.

Supporting climate protection programmes in Mali, Ghana and Taiwan

FLYERALARM supports programmes to improve the quality of life in Ghana and Mali by integrating energy-saving resources into the lives of locals. This is achieved by introducing more efficient cooking equipment, generating power using waste from mustard crops in India, and the repurposing of wind power to energy in Taiwan. Customers who opt for climate-neutral printing can also improve their own carbon footprint and show their support for climate protection by using an exclusive FLYERALARM “CO2-neutral” logo.

“We are working towards a sustainable future and climate protection is a big part of that”, says Stefan Constantin, Chief Technology Officer at FLYERALARM. “I am delighted that we have neutralised our first 50,000 tons of CO2‚‚ with the help of our customers. This is just the beginning for us. In the coming years, we want to launch even more projects to neutralise CO2‚‚ emissions whist doing everything we can do reduce our own CO2 footprint. We are on the right track here, working everyday to conserve resources and make our production processes even more efficient”.

FLYERALARM uses a combined printing process to use their resources as efficiently as possible. The company was instrumental in developing the process and has revolutionised the printing industry.
