Charging into the Future

The region’s leading electric car charging point supplier and installer welcomes its first work experience student.

Sunderland firm, Elm EV, partnered with a Newcastle School, to offer two students invaluable experience in the electrical engineering industry.

First of the two students was Courtney Liddle, from Studio West School. Courtney joined Elm EV last week and had her first encounter of electric vehicles and electric vehicle charging solutions.

Gaining an understanding of how electric vehicle charging works, Courtney attended a repair of a domestic Wall Pod, with an EV Engineer. Courtney learnt about the mechanics of EV charging and completed general office duties and some design and marketing tasks.

Managing Director, Suzie Guest, said: “It is really difficult for young people to gain employment upon leaving school. By offering work experience to students, we believe they can gain an invaluable advantage and enhance their CVs. Courtney has be given experience in a real life working environment. We would like to thank Courtney for all of her hard work.”

Elm EV specialises purely in the supply and installation of electric vehicle charge points and only recently announced its launch of an online, electric vehicle charging shop.

Year 9 student, Courtney said: “I have enjoyed every second of my work experience at Elm EV. I have met a lot of nice people and learnt lots of interesting and amazing things, about how electric vehicles work and how they are charged. I think this will help me in the future when I need to find a job.”

Studio West is located at West Denton Way, Newcastle Upon Tyne. It is the first Studio School to be opened in Newcastle and the first 13-19 Studio School in the United Kingdom. Studio West has been developed in partnership with Kenton School.
