Epic Apart-Hotel Support Home for Domestic Violence

Liverpool-based Epic Apart-Hotel has pledged its support for the Betterdays Homes for Domestic Violence charity based in south Liverpool.

Simon and Fiona Beer, co-owners of Epic, were so moved and inspired by the charity and the work it does that they decided to donate brand new furniture to be used in the charity’s house in Wavertree.

Betterdays was set up by Cynthia Monteverde for mums and children who are survivors of violence. With 10 bedrooms, Betterdays offers support in re-housing, education and employment, as well as classes in coping with domestic violence, parenting skills, self-esteem and confidence-building.

Cynthia Monteverde, founder and manager of Betterdays, said:

“Simon and Fiona have adopted us and have made a great impact on the women’s living conditions here at Betterdays. They are just awesome!

“Because we are an independent charity we have no funding, so we rely strictly on donations from the public. We have been so fortunate to have met Simon and Fiona. They have donated beds and all the bedding for the home, as well as a brand new leather sofa for our reception area. Epic have been instrumental in saving several thousands of pounds which keep our doors open.

“We are eternally grateful for the help and support that both Simon and Fiona have given Betterdays and it is such an inspiration to see a young couple take such interest in their community. We are so very thankful to them both for all that they have done and continue to do.”

Simon Beer said:

“When we met Cynthia for the first time we were just taken aback by her passion and enthusiasm for the project, we felt compelled to help in some small way. At the same time hearing first hand about the plight that women and children in our own city have to deal with was hard to digest. It’s encouraging that there are charities out there like Betterdays helping and supporting women and children in distress. We were moved as a family to support other families in need.”

Betterdays is a CIC organisation, with the women staying anywhere from three months to a year, depending on the individual circumstances. The charity’s aim is to see the women leave not just feeling good about themselves but also employed. A team is dedicated in making the women employable and in finding employment.
