Local travel agent reports holiday bookings are booming

Whitley Bay based travel agent Lizzie Adamson-Brown has reported record holiday bookings this January as more people than ever plan their next trip away, making the most of the favourable euro exchange rate and escaping the UK’s cold and unpredictable weather.

Lizzie, who runs her own home-based travel business as part of the UK’s leading independent travel company Travel Counsellors, also believes this boost in bookings is down to customers valuing the personal service she can provide. As a result the company celebrated its best ever sales in the company’s 20 year history and recorded its highest ever selling day on Friday 16th January. Bookings for January were up 7% compared to the previous year and the company achieved seven out of ten of their top ten best sales days ever.

“Both myself and the company as a whole have experienced phenomenal sales this January, which really does prove that people are looking positively into the New Year and that booking holidays are high on the agenda,” Lizzie comments. “The cold and snowy start to the year has also seemed to spur customers to make their travel plans, so they have some much needed sunshine to look forward to. My customers also really like the fact that I provide a highly personal service, as I get to know them and can tailor-make their holidays to suit their exact needs and requirements. They want someone they can trust to take care of everything down to finest detail and that is what being a Travel Counsellor is all about.”

Lizzie also believes that more customers are taking advantage of the favourable exchange rate, as sterling hits a seven-year high against the Euro. This means holidaymakers can enjoy better value for money when both booking their European break and exchanging currency for their travels. As a result Lizzie has reported a rise in popularity for European holidays, with Spain, Italy and Greece ranking amongst the most booked destinations so far this year.
