Manchester United partners with Emtel to stream content to Mauritius
As part of a multi-year partnership with Mauritius-based mobile operator and communication technology company, Manchester United has announced plans to start streaming content to the tropical island.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the deal will see Emtel stream United content across TV, mobile and internet platforms in conjunction with CANAL+ and CANALSAT.
United’s group managing director Richard Arnold said: “We are very proud to be adding such an established and innovative company to our family of commercial sponsors.
“With 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Emtel has shown that it knows what its consumers want and is always leading the way in new advances and technologies.
“Our partnership will not only bring our fans in Mauritius new and exclusive content but it will also be delivered in unique and exciting ways.”
The Republic of Mauritius is an island nation in the Indian Ocean about 2,000 kilometres off the southeast coast of the African continent.
Emtel’s chief executive Shyam Roy said: “This is yet another great event in the 25 year innovation-rich history of Emtel, to be associated with the prestigious Manchester United Football Club.
“Emtel has always been close to the needs of its customers and the people of Mauritius and we are extremely proud to be able to make the dreams of thousands of Mauritius football fans come true.
“Emtel is ready to deliver an incredible sports experience over its quality 4G/LTE and 3G networks through smart devices and through its associated TV broadcasting operations, to fulfil the diverse lifestyles of its subscribers.”
