Contractor appointed to £80 million Manchester office development

Laing O’Rourke has been appointed by Mosley Street Ventures to deliver its £80 million office building, Two St Peters Square on Mosley Street Manchester.

Laing O’Rourke has commenced work on the re-development of the existing building with a scheduled completion date of January 2017.

Two St Peter’s Square will comprise of 161,113 sq ft of space within the 11 storey building, have 5,142 sq ft of ground floor leisure space and car parking for 72 vehicles.

The investment value of the completed building will be in excess of £80 million.

Mosley Street Ventures director, Darryl Lee says: “We were impressed with the proposal Laing O’Rourke put forward, they have an excellent reputation and we are looking forward to the start of construction.

“Once the project is completed it will be one of the most prestigious office buildings in Manchester. The building has been designed to complement the changing face of St Peters Square being sympathetic to its history and architecture.”

“We have a strong working knowledge of the St Peter’s Square heritage development area, through our delivery of the Town Hall Complex transformation and Second City Crossing.

“This, combined with our use of offsite techniques and modern methods of construction, means we’ll be able to deliver a high quality scheme far more efficiently and with minimal disruption to the city centre.”

Designed by SimpsonHaugh and Partners LLP, the building will create a high quality, contemporary building that will reflect the changing face of what is an important civic and commercial space.

Consultation with Manchester City Council took place throughout the evolution of the design to ensure it is in-keeping with the vision for St Peter’s Square.
