New development creates local jobs in Fremington
Work to create a new development in Fremington is set to underpin jobs locally as well as provide homes for the local area.
Five star housebuilder Barratt Homes says that around 240 people will be involved in the construction and sales of the forthcoming Riverside Park development– with most being local sub-contractors and tradesmen.
“The Prime Minister has said again and again that one of the best ways to boost economic growth and get people working is through building more homes,” said Paul Moran, managing director at Barratt. “Our new development demonstrates how this theory works in practice.”
Paul said that in addition to the local construction jobs underpinned in building the new homes, the local people who move into the new housing will also spend their wages locally.
“This translates into a significant boost for local retailers at a time when concerns remain about the national financial picture. It’s exactly what this area needs.”
Barratt is set to build 139 new homes at Riverside Park which opens this year. Once complete the development will feature a range of two, three and four bedroom homes in the quayside village of North Devon.
