Persimmon reveals charity of the year for 2015

Scotland’s leading house builder Persimmon Homes has selected a local children’s charity as its charity of the year for 2015.

Persimmon Homes West Scotland nominated Yorkhill Children’s Charity as the company’s chosen charity for 2015, a charity that they have supported for the last four years.

Yorkhill Children’s Charity sits in the heart of Yorkhill Hospital in Glasgow and works tirelessly to support excellence in paediatric, obstetric and neonatal healthcare enhancing the treatment, care and wellbeing of sick children and their families to give them the best chance of making a full recovery.

This year sees the iconic Yorkhill hospital move from its current site to a new purpose built children’s hospital at the Southern General campus. The charity has committed £5million to enhancements for the new hospital, and will continue to raise funds following the move.

Persimmon Homes West Scotland has so far raised £29,250 for the charity through various activities including two grand charity balls, cake sales and various smaller events. 2015 will see a range of activities including a firewalk, skydive and an ambitious plan to walk Ben Nevis spearheaded by Persimmon’s Scottish Regional Chairman, John Cassie.

Kirsten Sinclair, Head of Fundraising at Yorkhill Children’s Charity said: “We are absolutely delighted that Persimmon Homes West Scotland has chosen to support us for another year.

“Many of the staff have their own Yorkhill stories and they really put their heart into fundraising for the charity. We would like to thank all of the staff who have been involved over the past two years, and look forward to another wonderful year with them.”

“The activities planned for this year are ambitious but the team are extremely motivated and up for the challenge to raise as much as we can.”
