Peterlee training provider gaining national recognition following Caterpillar partnership

Peterlee-based Infinite Learning and Development is gaining national recognition for its services as a North East training provider.

The company opened a welding academy three years ago to address the regional shortage of skilled welders, as identified by Caterpillar and their suppliers.

Brought in by Caterpillar to run external operations, Infinite Learning and Development have since supplied Caterpillar with 46 level 2 apprentices through their Junior Welder programme with many of these now completing a level 3 (we have another 4 at other CAT suppliers).

Moreover, these apprentices have also achieved the welding British standards (BSEN287) as well as their vocational qualifications.

Admirably, 90% of apprentices are retained and the partnership with Caterpillar is clearly flourishing.

Infinite Learning and Development are one of three finalists at the National SEMTA apprenticeships awards which are taking place in London this month, where they find themselves up against Toyota UK and Tata steel/ Swansea university for the Training partner of the year award.

Keith Corbett, Operations Director at Infinite, told Bdaily: “We’re very proud to even be recognised by SEMTA as one of the finalists. it’s a bit of David v Goliath but we don’t mind, it’s just great that we’re in there!

“We’re really busy at the moment and the academy has been a key part of our success. We’re a growing company and its fantastic for us to get that recognition.”
