Leeds hospitality entrepreneurs open new Basque tapas bar creating 60 jobs
Leeds is set for a brand new kitchen and bar, inspired by the tapas of the Basque region in Spain, which will create 60 jobs in the city centre.
Brainchild of the Leelex Group, the same company behind Leeds favourites Cielo Blanco, Jake’s Bar and emerging independent gin brand ‘Portobello Road’, a ‘substantial’ amount has been invested in the new kitchen and bar, ‘Pintura’.
Pintura, (meaning ‘work of art’ in Spanish) is set to open its doors on Saturday 28 February, and the new restaurant will be located near Marks and Spencer’s at Trinity Leeds.
The new restaurant aims to deliver high-quality tapas dishes and ‘Pintxo’ the bite size tastes of Basque country, the 3,000 sq ft restaurant will be the very first of its kind to open in Leeds.
With a menu that boasts authentic Spanish dishes starting at just £3 such as fresh Salted Cod, Iberico Ham, Octopus and Pig’s Cheek, the restaurant has partnered with premium local Spanish food supplier Grey’s Fine Foods to ensure only the best quality ingredients are used.
As part of opening celebrations, Pintura will be offering 50% off food across the opening weekend.
Serving over 130 diners, the bar and kitchen boasts vibrant décor evoking the feeling of San Sebastiàn and an intimate outdoor seating area.
Pintura Kitchen and Bar’s creator and Leelex’s MD Ged Feltham said: “Having enjoyed many a memorable summer holidaying in the stunning surroundings of the Basque region, I fell in love with the Spanish & French lifestyle and the passion they have about the food that they eat.
“Pintura really has been inspired by those experiences and our talented head chef Greg, the team and I have worked incredibly hard to deliver a dining experience that is authentic and distinctive”.
“We’re excited about the opening and we look forward to welcoming Leeds diners to Pintura to experience it for themselves”.
