Conversion of the former Three Tuns Inn, Raskelf

A local developer has completed the conversion of the former Three Tuns Inn, which stands at the crossroads in Raskelf, providing a luxurious family home, now on the market.

This property was historically known as the Peacock Inn after the ‘Peacock of the North’, Robert Neville, of the famous Nevilles of Raby Castle. He was slain at Berwick in 1318. His father was Ralph Neville, hero of Neville’s Cross and connected with Sheriff Hutton and Middleham. The ambitious project by Empirica is now complete, and the former hunting lodge has been transformed into a luxurious and spacious four bedroom detached house, with modern touches, whilst still retaining some original features.

There will be the addition of two new three-storey family homes adjacent to the property in the near future, utilising derelict land and transforming this small corner of Raskelf.

The opportunity was identified by Paul Brown and Rufus from Empirica property developers in late 2013, and the building had already been vacant for over 12 months. Seeing the potential in the former pub and adjacent land, they approached All Saints Living based in Newcastle upon Tyne, to consider funding the project.

All Saints Living is the development arm of The High Street Group of Companies, one of the fastest growing entrepreneurial firms in the North East. Since launching in late 2013, the development company has grown substantially, with close to 200 residential units under construction across the UK.

The company has recently launched a landmark project in Stirlingshire, which is the £18 million renovation and redevelopment of Larbert House & Country Estate into 56 luxury homes.

Paul from Empirica said “We are delighted to be breathing new life into an old pub in Raskelf, and have been working with local contractors to ensure the properties are completed to the highest standard, and will provide luxurious family homes.”

The property is being sold through Hunters Exclusive, who can be contacted on 01347 823535.
