HURST backing for Francis House

Accountancy firm HURST has chosen Francis House Children’s Hospicein south Manchester as its charity of the year for 2015.

HURST staff will test their fitness and endurance in a variety of sporting challenges during the year, hoping to raise thousands of pounds for Francis House.

A team of 28 from the firm will enter the 10km Great Manchester Run in May.

Others will take part in the Great Manchester Swim at Salford Quays in July, the South Manchester Triathlon and the gruelling Tough Mudder North West events in September and the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge over the summer.

Francis House provides care and support to hundreds of north west children, teenagers and young adults with life-limiting conditions.

Its annual running costs of £3.6m – equivalent to almost £10,000 per day – are funded almost entirely through public support, with only a small proportion provided by the government.

HURST partner and director of practice development Simon Brownbill said: “Francis House was the overwhelming choice of our staff in the firm’s annual vote for our charity of the year and we are delighted to be supporting such a wonderful institution.

“The hospice provides exceptional care to those who most need it, and the staff and volunteers who work there are truly inspirational.”

Kate Puc, fundraising officer at Francis House, said: “We are most grateful to HURST for making this commitment to our charity and we look forward to working with the team throughout the year.

“Support from across all sectors of the community is vital to the hospice, and we recognise we are very fortunate to have a loyal supporter base from local businesses.”

HURST has raised more than £32,000 for charity in the past four years for causes ranging from MedEquip4Kids to Mustard Tree, which supports homeless and other marginalised people across Greater Manchester.
