£5.6 million 'green' Doncaster homes contract awarded
Wates Living Space has been appointed to deliver a £5.6 million contract to improve the energy efficiency of hundreds of Doncaster homes.
The contract was awarded on behalf of housing association St Leger Homes and the work will see the affordable housing contractor install external wall insulation to 830 homes across the Askern and Bentley areas, with loft insulation and additional roof works also being undertaken as required.
The schedule of improvements is due for completion in spring 2016.
The works aim to greatly improve the thermal efficiency of the houses and will help to reduce home fuel bills; leading to warmer, more comfortable living for residents.
Wates Living Space has previously worked with St Leger Homes to deliver improvements to more than 7,000 homes across Doncaster, incorporating internal and external refurbishment to the Decent Homes Standard, external wall insulation and associated energy saving measures.
Joanne Jamieson, regional managing director for Wates Living Space, said: “More and more households have been reaping the benefits of upgraded insulation; making homes more energy efficient and reducing fuel poverty.
“We’re proud to be partnering with St Leger Homes once again, to further improve the quality of homes for people throughout Doncaster.”
Susan Jordan, chief executive of St Leger Homes, added: “I’m delighted that we are able to provide this energy efficiency work for our tenants to help them keep their homes warmer and reduce their fuel bills.”
