Coventry equipment hire firm plans £1million expansion

A leading Coventry equipment hire company is looking to take business up a gear by investing £1 million to expand its fleet.

Clements Equipment Hire, which is located in Torrington Avenue, Tile Hill, has already made a strong start to the year after it added six new machines to its fleet.

The initial £250,000 injection has brought in an eight tonne excavator, two five tonne excavators, a 21 metre truck mounted platform, a 21 metre compression roller and a nine tonne dumper.

The company will be looking to invest a further £750,000 during the course of the year to bring its total fleet of equipment up to 165.

Jim Longstaff, who is managing director at Clements, said the company was able to invest heavily in its future thanks to a rise in customer demand.

“We had a strong 2014 with growth in the region of 20 per cent and have also achieved our target for this financial year despite having four months left of trading,” he said.

“We are seeing a steady increase in customer demand across the sector which is very much the driving force behind our investment as we look to spend £1 million to extend our range of equipment and increase our capacity for new work.

“This will include adding to our general plant hire facilities including excavators, dumpers and compaction rollers as well as additional access hire equipment.

“We recently took delivery of six new machines, many of which had to be refuelled and checked overnight to ensure they were ready to be sent out for rental jobs across the UK the following morning.

“The new 21 metre truck mounted platform is already completing a four-week job in Coventry. It has been hired by Alliance Painting to assist with the refurbishment of the Skydome complex and will be used to repaint the façade of the building.

“We will also be tying the investment in with increasing our headcount and have looked at the possibility of hiring three new permanent staff as well as an apprentice – taking our total team up to 24 by the end of this year.”
