New village homes planned
The country’s leading housebuilder has revealed plans to build much needed new homes in the village of Roade, Northamptonshire, after successfully finalising a land deal.
Persimmon Homes Midlands says it wants to build 292 new homes at the site located at Ashton Road.
Richard Oldroyd, managing director of Persimmon Homes Midlands, said: “This project will regenerate the former Pianoforte Factory site which has been derelict for a number of years, and deliver the homes, jobs and amenities that South Northamptonshire Council identified in its Masterplan for this modern rural village.
“It is an exciting opportunity for us to create a development that will not only provide much needed new homes for a range of buyers, it will also breathe economic life into the area and lay the foundations for a thriving new community.
The development of the site will also offer land for a local doctors’ surgery (subject to demand) as well as land to the local football club and further land to the cemetery.
“Our technical team is liaising with the Local Authority and intends to submit a reserved matters planning application very soon, with a view to embarking on a large-scale demolition programme in late spring to prepare the site for construction.”
Roade is one of the largest villages in South Northamptonshire, being home to around 2,500 people, and has good schools and community facilities.
