Leeds' engineering firm CCL completes work on $185 million USA development

Leeds engineering solutions provider CCL has completed work on a 450-unit apartment block with an underground car park and bus garage near Washington, USA, a project totalling $185 million.

CCL was awarded the post-tensioning material contract for the garage at an early stage of the design process, and the company provided almost 454 tonnes of post-tensioning materials for the project.

The $95 million BLVD apartment has 450 luxury residential units consisting of eight-level of car parking, and 13 levels of residential slabs above.

The $90 million Reston Station Metro garage facility construction project is one of the biggest ongoing schemes east of the Mississippi River, and has involved excavating in excess of 500,000 cubic yards of dirt.

The mixed use project consists of five buildings housing offices, retail facilities, residential units, a hotel and a health club.

The 21-storey BLVD building is part of the 1.3 million square feet Reston Station Plaza, which is located directly above Reston Station Metro Garage Facility and adjacent to the DC Silver Line station.

Marc Khoury as general manager of CCL USA Inc, said: “Being the largest underground garage on the east coast of America, the project was full of challenges.

“CCL worked closely with the client, Miller & Long, as well as the architectural and engineering team to ensure the design was completed while making certain that the constructability and schedule were also maintained.

“The success of the approach on this phase secured both Miller &Long and CCL the contract for the second phase of the project.”
