Australia remains a top destination for UK emigration, according to latest ONS statistics

Australia remains a top emigration destination for UK residents, the latest Office for National Statistics migration figures show.

The February 2015 quarterly statistics show that 137,000 UK Citizens emigrated from the UK in the year ending September 2014.

Australia is among the most common destinations for British citizens, with work the main reason given for emigrating.

Leanne Short, UK recruitment and migration manager for emigration and overseas employment specialist ISA Group, said: “The latest figures reflect the wealth of opportunities in the Australian jobs market.

“There’s still a heavy demand for skills across a number of sectors, including construction, healthcare, agriculture and skilled trades.

“Australian employers are becoming increasingly savvy in searching for the skills they need from overseas. Thanks to technology and online resources, it’s easier than ever before for employers to connect with skilled professionals that are in demand, whether domestically or abroad.

“It’s also never been easier for skilled UK workers who are attracted by the Australian lifestyle to research and seek out job opportunities on offer, and connect with potential employers.

“The best place to start is by looking at the Skilled Occupations List, and state specific lists published by the Australian Government to see exactly what skills are in demand, before seeking advice from an expert in emigration.”

ISA Group, which is based near London’s Heathrow Airport, is a specialist in emigration, recruitment and human resources, and looks to help UK residents prepare for every aspect of emigration to Australia

The company will be exhibiting at Down Under Live, the UK’s biggest emigration event, at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham, on Saturday February 28 and Sunday March 1.
