UCLan graduate entrepreneur sets up award winning B&B consultancy

Little Touches was founded in March 2014 by Tom Metcalf.

He is a UCLan graduate twice over - BA (Hons) International Tourism Management, First Class (2011) and MA Scriptwriting (2013).

The company works on helping others improve their B&Bs, Guest Houses and Hotels through providing advice and services.

Costing only £500 to set up the company is about to release its first financial statement from its year in trading.

Tom spoke to Bdaily exclusively, he said: “The biggest challenge is taking on what I call Coke vs. Pepsi - Visit England and The AA.

“I have immense respect for them as powerful brands and all the great work they have done and continue to do, however they are “missing a trick” when it comes to continuous improvement for their thousands of members.

“The easiest thing about doing business is that I get out of bed every day knowing that I am working in an industry I love, assisting people who are open to change and I’m blogging for a global audience of professionals.

“Little Touches, those details which delight, should be at the heart of every hospitality provider.

“I’d like people to think, ‘He made our lives a heck of a lot easier!’

“Little Touches is a finalist in two categories at the UK Blog Awards - Food & Drink and Travel. “Plus, in the Travel category we are taking on household names including Thomson, Teletext holidays and WWF (wildlife not wrestling !)”
