LNT home and dry with Leeds Bradford Airport runway contract
Leeds-based LNT Solutions has secured a contract to supply Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) with their GEN3 runway de-icer.
LBA, the highest airport in the UK, has recently introduced GEN3, a third generation runway de-icer designed to keep runways clear of ice for longer periods.
The de-icer formula ensures friction improvements are maximized on active runways and taxiways.
LNT Solutions also reports savings of up to 20% on the amount of fluid needed as a result of less frequent application.
With GEN3 manufactured locally, LNT Solutions is well placed to ensure a continuous supply of de-icer to LBA during the winter period when it is most needed avoiding the need for road deliveries from further afield.
Richard Duncan, Leeds Bradford Airports’ Airside operations manager commented: “Leeds Bradford is pleased to support and work closely with LNT Solutions, a fast growing local Yorkshire business.
“The GEN3 de-icer introduced at LBA has already delivered exceptional results in the most challenging of wintry conditions over the past 6 weeks allowing aircraft to operate with minimal disruption.’’
Philip Newton, UK commercial manager for LNT Solutions said: “Forming a new partnership with Leeds Bradford with a ground breaking product is very exciting for us.
“LBA joins a growing list of early adopters of next generation runway de-icers worldwide.
We are continuing to invest in research and development to produce innovative products which secure operational efficiencies for our customers. It’s great to see these products now in use at LBA as well as on the continent and across the Atlantic.“
LNT Solutions is also supplying Highlands and Islands Airports in the Western Isles following successful trials and are in talks with a number of UK airports for the supply of GEN3.
