Green organisations celebrated at Action Renewables Awards shortlis

30 local businesses and organisations have been shortlisted in the 2015 Action Renewables Awards, which recognise and reward leaders and advocates in the field of renewables across Northern Ireland. Now in their seventh year, these prestigious industry awards, sponsored by Tughans Solicitors and electricity supplier Vayu, are gearing up for their biggest year yet, set to take place at the historic Belfast Harbour Commissioner’s Office on Friday 27th March 2015.

Speaking on behalf of Action Renewables, Nicola Branagh, Business Development Manager said, “Not only have we been delighted by the increased number of entries in this year’s Action Renewables Association Awards, but the high calibre of submissions has made this year’s judging especially exciting. We look forward to acknowledging the winners at our awards luncheon later this month.”

The independent judging panel was made up of industry experts and leaders in the field of renewables from across Northern Ireland including: Andy McCrea, Managing Director, Renewables Connect; Carol Forster, Operations Manager, Northern Ireland Environment Link; Geraint Ellis, Chair of Environmental Planning at Queen’s University; Jim Kitchen, Director, Sustainable NI; and Terry Waugh, Deputy Director, Action Renewables.

Terry Waugh, Deputy Director, Action Renewables, commented: “As more individuals and organisations begin to see the value of installing renewables and implementing renewables practices, we have seen the quality of entries increase year-on-year. Northern Ireland is setting an example of how renewables can successfully be put into practice, and our awards will acknowledge those who are leading the way in establishing best practice and providing a strong example for others.”
